MEG SHARMA
Meg Sharma, owner of the well-known Christchurch café Barefoot Eatery, is a purpose-driven entrepreneur whose work has always centred on community wellbeing and women’s empowerment. She began her business journey with a clear and personal mission — to support her daughter as a single parent, create meaningful employment pathways for women, and provide the community with healthy, organic, plant-based food options.
Meg’s professional background in Forensics and Psychology, combined with her hands-on experience in social services, gave her a unique perspective on the real-world safety challenges many women face. Through her work, she witnessed firsthand the gaps in safe and reliable transportation, particularly during late hours and vulnerable situations. These experiences became the catalyst for something bigger.
Recognising the need for a transport service built on trust, empathy, and genuine care, Meg founded Pink Taxi — not simply as a taxi company, but as a purpose-led movement. Her vision was to create a platform where women could travel with confidence while also opening new, flexible earning opportunities for female drivers.
Today, Pink Taxi stands as a reflection of Meg’s commitment to safer communities across New Zealand. The platform combines professional service standards with a strong social mission: empowering women, supporting families, and delivering dependable transport when it matters most.
